SHEHERAZAD MEDIA INTERNATIONAL PROFILE


Established in 2000, SHEHERAZAD MEDIA INT’L (SMI) is an active distribution and marketing company of Iranian films and productions in all over the world. Participating in major festivals and markets, sometimes acquisition of exceptional films, as well as co-production which is one of the main goals.

Mrs. Katayoon Shahabi, the Managing Director, started her work in 1982 as a film promoter at “Farabi Cinema Foundation” (FCF). In 1994, she co-founded “Cima Media International” in which in addition to promoting feature films and TV programs, she was involved in co-production of many documentaries and feature films that have been world-widely successful.

SMI’s policy is to select the best Iranian documentaries, short and feature films among lots of productions produced each year, and promotes and distributes them abroad.

In a short time, SMI has gained much progress and has started to produce or co-produce documentaries each year such as "Brief Peace" by Ata Hayati obtaining success not only among the festivals but also between buyers around the world. She is part of the executive board of Association of Producers of Documentary of Iran.

Among many projects proposed to SMI, the best ones are selected for co-production, granting this opportunity to all those who are interested in co-production with Iran to have the chance of work with the best conditions for the best projects.

SMI would like also to expand its activity by introducing valuable films from around the world especially Middle East.
